Twirkin’ french electronic production duo Mustard Pimps will be spinning on the turntables of U Street Music Hall this Thursday night. For a show that is free with RSVP (for 21+), you can’t find any better value of Thursday night entertainment in DC. Mustard Pimps have evolved as cross-genre DJs, previously working with acts like Dada Life, and who’ve recently dropped their new full-length album ‘No Title or Purpose’ earlier in October. If you’re a DJ who’s into electronic music here at WVAU, be sure to stream a few tracks on their soundcloud (posted below), and come out to the high-energy show this Thursday.
The following video of theirs ‘ZHM’ is an example of their beat smashing style. I’m warning you right now this video is pure crazy. If you thought puppets were weird representations of mankind to begin with, the video below makes puppets doing things you’ve never seen puppets do before. Get thrown into a pleasurably uncomfortable encounter of an American Beauty kind, a domestic experience that casually grows into a wild sexcapade which, without spoiling it for you, you should just watch yourself (below) to find out how it ends.

WVAU is putting on a concert tomorrow for our Capital Punishment series! We’re bringing Mal Blum and Man & Dog to give us a real folkstravaganza. It’s in the basement of the Kay Spiritual Center, and totally FREE, which should be enough for any poor college student to show up!
WVAU is proud to present Javelin as part of our free Capital Punishment concert series!

These two rad bad dudes have toured with Warpaint, Yeasayer and more super cool bands you probably love and now they’re turning their eyes towards American University.
Show starts at 9pm on Friday, January 21st in the Kay Basement. It’s FREE so bring as many people as you want.
Let’s jam!

Within the next 24 hours we will have all the pictures from September’s WVAU Open Mic up online! We had a festive first public event this year at a new location in The Perch. The ambiance was perfect for a sit down student concert including the perch’s vast Tazo Tea collection, lattes, and coffee, not to mention comfy chairs and floor cushions from Crate & Barrel. And best of all, we had live entertainment. Performances were of the variety with everything from a Korean indie band to a vocal impersonation of Bobby McFerrin. The friday night was a hoot.
Check back within the next day then and save, share, and tag your friends on our flickr photo album.
Also, congratulations to all of our new DJs. By the beginning of this week, most of our new crew will have finished their required sit-in show, and starting today will now be broadcasting live during their time slots. Check the schedule to see the 100+ DJs we have this semester!

THIS JUST IN- Our totally rad new t shirts have arrived, and they are FREE to any current WVAU staffer!
Check out our DJ models sporting them high class. You can wear them out to da club, to the gym, around campus, to sleep, or even to the library as DJ Bradley Barbour is seen below doing.
If you want to buy a shirt, WVAU will be selling them at our final Open Mic, which takes place Friday, April 30th in Batelle Atrium, 8-10 pm as always! The shirts are American Apparel brand, and we have sizes S, M, L, XL.
