Live in the Hive: Krill and Ava Luna

Mike Creedon

Before their show at The Dunes on 3/21, Krill and Ava Luna stopped by the WVAU studio for a tantalizing duo of energizing sets.

Krill, or, WVAU Hears the Krill in-studio and Bursts Into Tears:
Krill’s latest release is titled Steve Hears Pile in Malden and Bursts Into Tears; if that isn’t one of the greatest album titles this year (or of all time), then I don’t know what to believe. A cross between Violent Femmes and Pixies, both in sound and vocal delivery, Krill are keeping alive paranoid, self-conscious college rock. If you want to listen to your new favorite band, check out their session below.

Ava Luna describe themselves as “nervous soul”, a strangely fitting descriptor of their eclectic sound. With the release of their latest record Electric Balloon, their songwriting has only grown and become more elaborate. Filled R&B hooks, punk fills, and harmonies to die for, Ava Luna are a step above most bands.
