Torres, "Sprinter" (Partisan)

When Bella Turns into a Vampire
You know, I was really taken aback by the first track, “Strange Hellos,” because Torres starts with this deep, quiet singing that all of a sudden switches into, like, pseudo screamo music at 0:50 seconds. I was peacefully lying down in my bed, enjoying the breeze, when all of the sudden a raucous guitar came out of nowhere and made me literally jump. Like WHAT WAS THAT?
Not all of the songs are like that, luckily. I would say Torres’ music is pretty passive, ultimately. It sounds like she has this deep-seated anger just brewing in her lungs, but she covers it over with a sad, contemplative tone. This is really good music for when you’re pissed as hell but trying to be the bigger person by letting a conflict just sort of die down instead of attacking back.
