The Very Best, "Makes A King" (Moshi Moshi)

Feels like you‰’re by a Washington state waterfall

The Very Best creates unusual beats from unusual sounds, but somehow it all comes together. One moment their music could be mistaken for reggae on an island (track 3) and the next song could sound like a rainy day in the Washington state woods (track 2). The last two songs are quite cool; “Ufumu‰” is really intense and suspenseful while “Makes a King‰” could be on your soundtrack for skateboarding through LA. The Very Best gets down to unique native roots with different songs for varying occasions. I also really like “Mariana‰” which you could easily dance to underneath the starry summer sky around a bonfire. The opposite of “Mariana‰” would be “Sweka‰” which could be playing at a trendy hotel in Japan or Italy with a bouncy club vibe. Most of the songs are soft though, such as “Mwana Wanga‰” which is reminiscent of running through a sunflower field and “Umasiye‰” which could easily be slipped onto the “Secret Life of Walter Mitty‰” soundtrack.
