Frustrated yet melodious, actually original rock music

Within the time it takes to listen to this four song EP, a complete sensory overload has taken place. All of the songs have a super impassioned, pained delivery over swinging keyboard melodies, and make Sons a very unconventional, fun, heavy album. Take the song “Strange Home,‰” where one of the rotating vocalists repeatedly belts “This place is just a strange home‰” over a build-up of spastic drumming and angelic choral accompaniment that makes you wonder how it didn‰’t all explode at the end, or the question of “When I walk in the valley of death, will I see you there or just my own breath?‰” from “No Mercy,‰” a track that transports you to a Django Unchained-style mist filled revenge film and deeply explores the album‰’s un-aimed anger vibe. The vengeful call of “I wanna see blood in the suburbs tonight‰” on “Loveletting‰” is another instance when the absurd clashes with neat indie grooves, letting Sons of an Illustrious Fathers masterfully achieve a kind of organized fury that can only make me excited to hear more of them in the future.
