He’s done it again

After 2012‰’s 2, which featured the enticing single “My Kind of Woman,‰” a yearning for Salad Days was inevitable. The phrase “salad days” has been around since Shakespeare, made popular by DC band Minor Threat ‰ÛÒ referring to the fanciful good old days ‰ÛÒ days now gone. While it may seem peculiar for a 23 year old DeMarco to sing of losing time, it is best to remember that age is just a number. “Treat Her Better‰” is telling of the record being an epiphany of sorts, realizing life is actually worth being there for. What seems like advice comes off as his own reminder to accept love. Under the goofy layers and penchant for McDonalds Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, DeMarco gives us an honest and thoughtful record reminding all to never judge a book by its cover. Further delving into his mind‰’s renderings, “Let My Baby Stay‰” beckons a sincere love plea – DeMarco giving a voice to the inexpressible. He speaks for the man afraid of his own thoughts, considering each feeling something he loses when he utters it. Not an uncommon tale, but a heart wrenching truth DeMarco romantically expresses in Salad Days. With Salad Days being released on April Fool‰’s Day, do know it‰’s no joke.
