The Tough Crowd: Hardcore Twitter

The world of Twitter is relatively new place for me. Over the past month or so I have been trying to navigate the waters of the social network and learn its intricacies. I have learned some but I still have some way to go to become a master sailor of Twitter. I find the hardest part to be condensing the lengthy rambling thoughts in my head into 140 characters of clever and interesting content. I applaud anyone that has gotten this down, since after a month I‰’m still struggling with editing down tweets. Learning this will come with time I‰’m sure, but in the meantime what better way to learn than by combining my love of hardcore with my newfound need to be a Twitter fiend.

This week, The Tough Crowd chronicles my personal favorite hardcore-related Twitter users (thus far in my journey) and why they make Twitter a better place.

Justice Tripp @jurtice

Trapped Under Ice is a constant favorite in my friend group and living in DC so close to their hometown of Baltimore means I know my fair share of people with their own personal Justice stories. Going through his Twitter is a treat. It‰’s a weird black hole of entertainment that I highly recommend everyone checks out. If not only to learn about his life but also see his miraculously tough back tattoo.

Mike Moynihan @mikexmoynihan

He‰’s a member of Hollow Earth and owner of my personal favorite Twitter. This account has me dying of laughter every time I check my twitter feed. Not only is the dude funny and crass, but also seems to genuinely love hardcore, and that‰’s something I can always get behind.

Walter Delgado @WallyEdge

Wally‰’s Twitter is a newfound favorite of mine. It pretty much revolves around music not just punk and chronicles life as a hardcore front man. He also likes Manchester Orchestra and what‰’s not to love about that?

John Brannon @RealJohnBrannon

Mr. Brannon is in Negative Approach, which is cool enough in its own right, but in addition to that he also has Twitter conversations with Andrew W.K. Some of it is complete nonsense to the point where I’m not sure what he’s trying to say, but I love it nonetheless.

@HCHeadlines

This is the only one on this list that isn‰’t in a band. It‰’s a series of fake news headlines related to and making fun of hardcore. This Twitter is Grade-A perfect and if you don‰’t think its funny, well then you need to reevaluate your life.
